Job Title: Civil Technical Engineer

Job Description:
MID Construction Group is seeking a skilled Civil Technical Engineer to join our Technical Office team. This role requires strong technical expertise in structural and architectural coordination, concrete works, and pre-construction planning, especially for multifamily projects built to U.S. construction standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Coordination:
- Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and design documents, particularly for concrete structures.
- Coordinate and prepare shop drawings and as-built drawings.
- Identify, draft, and manage RFIs (Requests for Information) related to architectural and structural components.
- Collaborate with site and design teams to resolve technical issues during construction.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare technical submittals and material submittals for consultant/client approval.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and generate technical and progress reports.
- Ensure compliance with project milestones and local codes.
Material & Resource Planning:
- Estimate required quantities for concrete works and ensure timely procurement.
- Evaluate material suppliers for quality and compliance.
- Monitor material usage to reduce waste and control costs.
Pre-Construction Support:
- Contribute to cost estimation, value engineering, and risk assessment processes.
- Ensure all pre-construction activities are in line with CSI trades and U.S. standards.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3–4 years in RFI drafting and coordination.
- Strong background in pre-construction CSI trades, cost estimation, value engineering, and risk assessments.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, and BIM tools.
- In-depth knowledge of California Building Code (CBC), Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC), ASCE 7, ADA, and CALGreen standards.
- Experience with multifamily projects built to U.S. construction standards is required.
- EIT/EI certification preferred; candidates pursuing a PE license in California are encouraged.
Note:
Candidates must have relevant U.S.-based experience in estimation and pre-construction. Applicants without this background will not be considered.
