The Department of Surgery provides comprehensive and sub-specialty care in the areas of Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Peadiatrics Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery. The Department has 100+ full-time and part-time faculty with a strong commitment to teaching and research. Formal structured undergraduate teaching, postgraduate residency, and fellowship programs are integrated into the academic functions of the department.

Aga Khan University Hospital invites applications for the position of Coordinator, Department of Surgery.
Responsibilities:
You will:
- Act as the primary liaison for surgical patients and their families. This includes conducting preliminary financial assessments, providing cost estimates and forwarding eligible cases for evaluation where required
- Foster and maintain highly effective communication channels across surgical faculty, Out-Patient Clinics, and all other relevant departments to ensure a seamless patient flow throughout the perioperative process.
- Coordinate directly with primary physicians to secure all necessary pre-operative clearances. Ensure the meticulous completion of all required diagnostic work-up (e.g., lab tests, imaging) and that results are available for surgical review.
- Facilitate the timely scheduling of all elective surgical procedures in coordination with the OR Booking office and surgeon.
- Brief patients and their families thoroughly on all pre-operative instructions before admission. Facilitate their understanding and, ensuring all questions are addressed in direct liaison with the surgeon or their designee.
- Oversee admission formalities and actively following up with patients for necessary approvals for timely and efficient patient bed allocation in coordination with ADM office.
- Lead and manage Quality initiatives within department of surgery in coordination with supervisor to optimize patient experience, enhance overall efficiency and resource utilization within surgical services.
- Collaborate closely with the physician to finalize comprehensive discharge plans. This encompasses scheduling follow-up appointments, and providing essential home care instructions.
- Serve as the central point of contact for patients regarding post-discharge inquiries. This includes acting as a direct liaison with the physician addressing billing queries, post-surgery clinical concerns or clarifications.
Requirements:
You should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree, master’s Would Be Preferred
- At Least Two Years’ Experience in Customer Handling/Counselling In A Service Industry
- Excellent Communication Skills
- Ability To Perform Multiple Functions Effectively Under Work Pressure
- Knowledge Of Medical Terminologies Would Have An Advantage But Is Not Necessary
- Willing To Work In Morning And Evening Shifts along handling patient queries as required.
