Job Description:
At IPS (Information Process Solutions) The Laptop and Computer Board Repair Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and testing the motherboard and other internal components of laptops and desktops. This role requires strong technical expertise, precision, and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex hardware issues.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues on laptops and desktop motherboards, including power issues, no display, and boot failures.
- Perform soldering and de-soldering of components on motherboards, such as chips, capacitors, and resistors.
- Repair or replace faulty components, including CPUs, GPUs, RAM, and other integrated circuits.
- Conduct detailed inspections and quality checks to ensure the integrity of repairs.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers, to identify hardware failures.
- Reflow and reball BGA (Ball Grid Array) components as needed.
- Test and verify repairs to ensure full functionality of the laptop or desktop.
- Document all repairs, including steps taken, parts used, and outcomes, in service logs.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) safety protocols.
- Stay updated on the latest repair techniques and advancements in laptop and computer hardware.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers and other technicians.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Laptop and Computer Board Repair Technician or in a similar hardware repair role.
- Strong knowledge of laptop and desktop motherboard components and repair techniques.
- Proficiency in soldering and de-soldering SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) and through-hole components.
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and schematics.
- Experience with BGA reflow and reballing processes.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment used for motherboard repair.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks efficiently.
- Knowledge of ESD safety practices and protocols.
- Certification in electronics repair, IT, or a related field is a plus.
