Responsibilities:
- Receive and process payments from dental insurance companies and patients for services rendered by dental providers.
- Accurately post payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts in the medical billing software system.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for dental services, ensuring accurate billing and payment posting.
- Reconcile payments received with billing records, identifying and resolving discrepancies or errors.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and outstanding balances, communicating with insurance companies and patients as needed.
- Prepare and submit electronic claims to dental insurance carriers, ensuring compliance with billing regulations and requirements.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of payment transactions, adjustments, and billing activities.
- Generate and analyze reports related to payment posting, accounts receivable, and claim status.
- Assist in the resolution of billing inquiries and patient concerns related to payments.
- Stay updated on changes in dental insurance billing codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in dental payment posting and insurance billing within a US-based medical billing environment.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes.
- Familiarity with medical billing software systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) for payment posting and billing.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification, claim submission, and payment reconciliation processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced medical billing environment.
- Proficiency in using MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
