Head Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary Objective of Position:

The Head of MS & T is responsible for the operational technical leadership to ensure product reliability, portfolio growth, cost competitiveness (via leading technical programs including New Product Introduction, Process & Formulation Improvements, Alternate Supplier Development etc.) for the product manufactured in Pakistan (in Abbott sites and TPM) in coordination with Regional MS&T and I&D. Additionally, he/she required to Translate high-level objectives into detailed technical plans, execute the plan (individually and/or through others), and update the cross-functional project team on key technical and timeline risks. Principal Duties:

Major Responsibilities:

• Head of MS & T must ensure the following activities in his/her area of responsibilities:
  • Leading risk/failure mode assessment, test method development, process development, and performance and safety testing for early feasibility products.
  • Leading key aspects of the Advanced Development (early feasibility) process.
  •  Driving results in the technical team addressing key deliverables or addressing key project risks.
  • Hands-on ownership of design and process from product ideation through hand-off to the concept through process validation
  • Support Corporate Vision and Strategy to build MS & T capability for Local business support as well as extending support to METAP Sites.
  • Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Marketing and Operations.
  • Transfer new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes into and out of the site in coordination with MS&T and I&D.
  • Research, design and evaluate materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment.
  •  Suggest training tools to enhance employee performance and skill development.
  • Monitor team metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of goals. :
  • Document all phases of research and development. Oversee complex research projects, analyse results, and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Assess the scope of research projects and ensure they are on time and within budget.
  • Staff resource need assessment, talent identification and staff hiring to ensure right people for required tasks available.
  • Identification of Capital items and budget preparation for MS & T operations
  • Technical support to affiliate for the Continuous Improvement Projects, as required.
  • Technical support to Abbott TPM team for FLQR Package review in line with MS&T protocol.
  • Technical support for Alternate Material Source Development by participating in Risk assessment and Recommending Implementation strategy to Quality and Material Management team.
  • Review and approve technical proposal, packages and other related documents prepared in MS & T as related to New Make products, Formulation Improvement, Process Improvement, Tech Transfer and Tech Recommendations etc.

Knowledge, Experience & Education:

• Product formulation and process knowledge
• Technical risk assessment tools and methodology
• Project Management
• More than 10 years of experience in relevant field.
• Pharm – D/PhD
