Position Summary
The Network Support Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Support Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design and Implementation:
Configure, deploy, and maintain FortiGate firewalls to protect client networks.
- Design and manage wireless networks using Ubiquiti Access Points, ensuring high-performance coverage.
- Implement and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networks for efficient data flow.
VoIP System Support:
- Install, configure, and maintain VoIP systems (Univerge Call Solutions) to ensure consistent call quality and minimal disruptions.
- Monitor and resolve latency, jitter, and other VoIP-related issues.
Network Security and Monitoring:
- Establish and enforce robust security measures, including firewall policies, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
- Conduct periodic vulnerability assessments and mitigate risks promptly.
Client Collaboration and Support:
- Serve as a technical point of contact for US-based clients, providing expert consultation and swift issue resolution.
- Offer proactive recommendations to improve network reliability and security.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, security policies, and change management.
- Prepare detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions.
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- At least 4+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering.
- Expertise in: FortiGate Firewalls: Advanced configuration, VPNs, and security policies.
- Ubiquiti Access Points: Deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- VoIP Systems: Installation, maintenance, and optimization.
- LAN/WAN: Design, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Network Security: Proficiency in implementing the best practices for client protection.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Experience working with ticketing systems and IT service workflows.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with English-speaking clients.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications:
- Fortinet NSE (Network Security Expert).
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
- Familiarity with US compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
- Experience with cloud networking or SD-WAN solutions.
