Programme Associate (Protection)

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Protection) and the direct supervision
of the National Programme Officer (Protection), the incumbent will support the implementation and
monitoring of protection services, through Implementing Partner (IP) organizations of IOM’s
protection programme in Pakistan.The Programme Associate (Protection) will be responsible for assisting with administrative,
operational, and logistical functions related to IP selection, planning, activity follow up, capacity building,
reporting, visibility and other support tasks.
 

Responsibilites and Accountabilities:

• Assist in coordinating the planning and implementation of ongoing and new protection activities by Implementing Partners (IPs), including the selection of new IPs, in line with IOM standards, project frameworks, workplans and donor requirements.
• Provide administrative and logistical support in the selection, vetting, enrollment and, as needed, extension of protection IPs, by assisting with the completion and processing of documentation in line with IOM internal procedures.
• Assist in tracking deadlines for the submission of monthly, quarterly and final reports by protection IPs, as well as fund requests, supporting documentation for agreement processing, case management data, and visibility requirements, as needed.
• Contribute to capacity-building efforts by participating in IP needs assessments, assisting in the development of tailored training plans, coordinating logistical arrangements for sessions and workshops and tracking follow-up action.
• Help prepare visibility plans for each protection IP in coordination with relevant colleagues, to showcase IOM’s work throughout the project duration and in line with donor requirements.
• Assist with weekly, monthly and ad hoc coordination meetings with protection IPs and help maintain accurate documentation of meeting minutes and agreed action points.
• Support follow-up to verify that specialized protection services provided by IOM’s IPs are aligned with inter-agency standards as well as IOM’s Institutional Approach to Protection.
• Collect and compile data shared by IPs on project achievements and enter them into relevant databases and information management (IM) systems to contribute to monitoring and reporting, in line with data protection principles.
• Assist with other tasks, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in development studies, political sciences, social sciences, gender studies, law, human rights or other relevant field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience
• High school diploma with five years of experience
• Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

• Experience supporting general protection, child protection (CP), gender-based violence (GBV)activities, including working directly with beneficiaries.
• Some experience in protection information management is an asset.
  Basic understanding of the protection sector in Pakistan, including common challenges, priorities, referral pathways, and principles safe referrals.
• Experience assisting with capacity-building efforts related to general protection, GBV, CP, and other cross-cutting issues.
• Awareness of key data protection principles and knowledge of safe, confidential and ethical data handling practices.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, and Excel.

• General knowledge of migration-related topics relevant to the Organization’s work.
• Familiarity with UN and bilateral donor programming processes.
• Basic understanding of financial rules and regulations.

• IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English and Urdu is required (oral and written).

Desirable :

Working knowledge of Pashtu, Dari or any other local language/s.
