To lead Mashreq Global Network (Mashreq’s Distributed Workforce platform), and its operational set-up Pakistan to ensure the sustainable delivery of an integrated, dynamic and high-quality talent & services platform. Mashreq Global Network consists of MGN employees undertaking roles from MGN office and home locations.
Working collaboratively with all Group functions, who both use and enable MGN, the role is responsible for developing and evolving the platform into a market leading Distributed Workforce talent & services platform, servicing the strategic, digital and operational requirements of Mashreq.
The role requires a strong ability, experience and attitude to navigate matrix environments, building consensus, building alignment and driving impact and outcomes through influence.
Strategic leadership of MGN Pakistan build out and Remote Working in Pakistan
- Together with key stakeholders identify, co-develop, sponsor/lead the development of critical capacity & capabilities for MGN Pakistan, to include- employer branding, Talent Acquisition & Retention, RW & X-Border leadership skills, Culture, Premises and Technology, drive and support footprint growth aligned to the bank’s strategic plans
- Provide Thought Leadership and proactively identify and co-ordinate the strategic level opportunities, challenges and risks associated with Remote Working and MGN, to ensure MGN becomes a source of strategic strength for Mashreq
Leadership of MGN Pakistan platform
- Working closely with People & International Capital Group stakeholders proactively identify and drive appropriate MGN Pakistan PICG strategies and practices to support Mashreq & MGN’s strategic and operational requirements. Ensure local PICG teams are operating effectively. Ensure local MGN PICG activities meet local requirements and are aligned with Mashreq group policies, practices and organisational models
- Ensure local MGN Technology support teams are operating effectively. Ensure local MGN Technology provision meets local requirements and is aligned with Mashreq group policies, practices and organisational models
- Working closely with Corporate Affairs Group stakeholders ensure the local MGN Finance & Admin teams are operating effectively, meeting local requirements and are fully aligned with Mashreq group policies, practices and organisational models
- Ensure appropriate budgeting, financial control, chargeback and cost & MIS reporting is undertaken by MGN Pakistan
- Working closely with Risk Management & Compliance Group stakeholders proactively identify and drive appropriate MGN Risk Management & Compliance strategies and practices, to support Mashreq & MGN’s strategic and operational requirements. Ensure that local Risk Management activities are fully aligned with Mashreq group policies, practices and organisational models
- Ensure appropriate platform wide BCP infrastructure is available in line with organization’s requirements
- Proactively make recommendations relating to the common requirements of Mashreq’s Distributed Workforce MGN operating model.
- Proactively identify and implement initiatives to optimise costs & efficiency across MGN
- Drive Mashreq’s CSR efforts internally through increased staff volunteering, externally through non-profit partnerships
Fiduciary, Regulatory & Risk management
- Accountable to ensure that the legal entities making up Mashreq Global Network in Pakistan are compliant with all Regulatory, Financial, Tax, Legal and other Fiduciary responsibilities.
- Ensure that MGN Pakistan Central Management team (PICG, Finance, Admin, Technology, Risk) control issues arising from Internal Audits, Business Risk Reviews, third party agency audits, and regulatory reviews are actioned and closed within the stipulated timelines.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of current and emerging Regulatory, Financial, Tax, Legal and Operational requirements that may impact the entity and develop appropriate recommendations and action plans
- Provide timely feedback and recommendations to Executive management & the Board of directors regarding material risks and issues
External Environment
- Accountable for effectively managing the reputation of MGN in the local external environment.
- In conjunction with Marketing & Communications and PICG Groups, co-develop and manage effective external communications across MGN locations, primarily focused on maximising Mashreq’s reputation as a preferred employer Pakistan
- Develop relationships with appropriate external bodies to enhance the position and reputation of Mashreq Pakistan.
- Monitor the external environment, regulatory environments, employment market and talent competitor scene, for developing/emerging issues and provide appropriate feedback and recommendations to Executive management
Internal Stakeholder Management
- Develop open and active lines of communication with senior Group stakeholders who use and/or enable MGN Pakistan
- Develop and lead appropriate Group wide stakeholder governance and feedback structures to ensure that MGNs are delivered to the needs of Mashreq Groups/Divisions
Transition Management
- Develop an effective Transition management methodology to support existing and new activities undertaken via MGN entities
- Proactively support Groups/Divisions manage their Transition activity, to maximise transition success
- Ensure learnings from Transition management are continually and consistently adopted
Best Practice/Continual Improvement
Use the role’s enterprise wide exposure and insight to proactively identify best practices and opportunities for sharing across Business/Enabler Groups, this may include process, management, talent, technology etc
- The candidate should preferably possess a Post-graduation in Business Management or Chartered Accountancy
- 18+ years of experience, with strong knowledge and experience in leading and driving growth of offshore / shared services setups
- ideally with leading or managing medium to large offshoring / shared services set-up in Pakistan preferable within the financial services or banking sector.
- Proven experience in managing legal entities and related local regulatory requirements including labour laws.
- Excellent program management, analytical / problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in leading multi-regional initiatives.
