We are a UK-based optometry practice seeking a meticulous and experienced professional in Bookkeeping and management accounting to join our team remotely. Your Role:
As a key member of our team, you will oversee the financial management of our practice. From recording income and managing expenditures to generating insightful reports, your work will directly support our continued success.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Managing Income & Expenditure
- Reconcile and track all income, including private patient fees and NHS-related payments.
- Verify and cross-check invoices with delivered products or services.
- Monitor payments to suppliers, promptly resolving any discrepancies.
- Accurately record and categorise all business expenses.
2. Financial Reporting & Insights
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow analyses, on a monthly, weekly, and annual basis.
- Create visual presentations, such as charts and graphs, to communicate key financial metrics.
- Identify trends and provide actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Forecast future income and expenses to support effective budget planning.
- Ensure budgets are adhered to, flagging variances when necessary.
4. Compliance with UK Financial Standards
- Learn and apply relevant UK accounting laws, including VAT regulations and tax requirements.
- Ensure all financial activities are compliant with UK standards and maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations.
5. Professional Communication
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders regarding payments, invoices, and financial queries.
- Manage financial disputes professionally, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolutions.
6. Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate and accessible financial records in line with UK standards.
- Handle data entry and document management with precision and care.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills:
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and management accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, preferably with exposure to UK standards.
- Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create reports and visualisations.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
- English: Conversational level
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with UK-based businesses or the healthcare sector.
- Familiarity with NHS payment systems or healthcare-specific financial practices.
- Knowledge of UK employment laws (e.g., PAYE, National Insurance).
