Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and opinionated Columnist to contribute insightful, original, and thought-provoking articles to our publication. The ideal candidate has a strong voice, a unique perspective, and the ability to engage readers through compelling storytelling, sharp analysis, and well-informed commentary on current events, culture, politics, business, or any assigned niche.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write regular opinion columns that reflect critical thinking, originality, and strong narrative style
- Research current events, trends, or topics to provide accurate and well-informed perspectives
- Develop engaging headlines and opening hooks to capture reader interest
- Maintain consistency in voice, tone, and message in line with the publication’s editorial standards
- Collaborate with the editorial team for planning, feedback, and revisions
- Meet deadlines consistently and respond promptly to editorial suggestions
- Participate in public discussions or online interactions, when required, to build credibility and reader engagement
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a columnist, journalist, or opinion writer
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong understanding of the target audience and ability to tailor content accordingly
- Deep knowledge of and passion for your chosen field (e.g., politics, economics, society, culture, religion, technology, etc.)
- Ability to present a balanced view while expressing personal opinions clearly and persuasively
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and SEO best practices is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Political Science, or related field
- Portfolio of published columns or articles
- Social media presence or public following is an advantage
- Bilingual or multilingual writing skills (if required by the publication)
