The YouTube Content Researcher will play a pivotal role in identifying trending topics, analyzing audience preferences, and researching competitor content to inform and enhance our YouTube content strategy. You will be responsible for providing data-driven insights and actionable recommendations to help us create compelling videos that resonate with our target audience and maximize viewership and engagement.
Responsibilities:
Topic and Trend Identification:
- Conduct in-depth research on current events, trending topics, viral stories, and niche-specific interests relevant to our channel's focus.
- Utilize tools like YouTube's Research Tab, Google Trends, social media platforms (TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, X/Twitter), and news outlets to identify emerging trends and popular discussions.
- Monitor competitor channels and industry leaders to identify successful content formats, topics, and strategies.
Keyword Research and SEO:
- Perform comprehensive keyword research to identify high-volume, low-competition keywords and search terms relevant to potential video ideas.
- Understand YouTube's algorithm and SEO best practices to optimize video titles, descriptions, and tags for maximum discoverability.
- Identify content gaps where new, high-quality content could provide significant value.
Content Analysis and Curation:
- Analyze existing high-performing content on YouTube and other platforms to understand what makes it successful (e.g., video length, format, storytelling techniques, engagement triggers).
- Source and curate high-quality video clips, images, and other multimedia assets as needed for compilation or commentary videos, ensuring copyright and fair use compliance.
- Fact-check and cross-reference information from various sources to ensure content accuracy and credibility.
Reporting and Collaboration:
- Organize and present research findings in clear, concise, and easy-to-digest formats (e.g., reports, summaries, bullet points with key talking points).
- Collaborate closely with content creators, scriptwriters, video editors, and marketing teams to brainstorm new video ideas and develop content outlines.
- Suggest reaction angles, discussion points, or potential collaborations based on research findings.
- Monitor video performance metrics (views, watch time, engagement) and provide insights for optimization.
Requirements:
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in content research, market research, or a similar analytical role, preferably within the digital media or YouTube space.
- Strong knowledge of internet culture, online communities, and viral trends.
- Exceptional research and sourcing skills across multiple platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, Instagram, X/Twitter, news sites, etc.).
- Proficiency in using research and analytics tools (e.g., YouTube Analytics, Google Trends, keyword research software).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Creativity and a keen eye for engaging and unique content.
- Basic understanding of copyright and fair use principles for online content is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field.
- Experience with a specific niche or content genre on YouTube (e.g., gaming, commentary, educational, entertainment).
- Familiarity with video production workflows and content management systems.
