Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automation and/or MES Manager in an FMCG environment.
Certifications (Preferred): Automation, PLC Programming, SCADA Systems, PMP, Six Sigma.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for leading the automation and MES systems within the factory environment, ensuring all systems are optimized for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Automation/MES Manager will drive engineering excellence, oversee digital transformation of manufacturing operations, and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams to support Nestlé’s manufacturing and quality objectives.
A Day in the Life of...
Technical Leadership & Operations
- Supervise technical teams, contractors, and third parties, ensuring project and daily operations are delivered effectively.
- Lead commissioning, launching, and start-up of digital modules, technical equipment, and production lines.
- Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and Nestlé internal standards in automation and electrical systems.
Automation & System Management
- Provide hands-on expertise in PLC systems (Rockwell, Wonderware, AVEVA System Platform, Thin Manager).
- Oversee SCADA architecture, including ACP Thin Client and AVEVA Insight platforms for liquid/powder processing.
- Manage virtualized server infrastructure, with expertise in firewalls, networks, and FAS systems in industrial settings.
- Demonstrate knowledge in ATEX environments, including firmware updates and safety system upgrades for Spray Dryer Towers.
Calibration & Change Management
- Utilize calibration management tools such as Procal; experience with Endress+Hauser instrumentation preferred.
- Oversee Automation Change Management Systems based on Office 365 platforms for transparent process handling.
Operational Excellence & Tools
- Leverage operational tools such as RMS, TMS, DMO, Energy Management (JARVIS), Control Tower, and HORIZON Upscaling.
- Use tool data to drive productivity and process improvement, especially in dairy and powder manufacturing.
Project & People Management
- Lead full-cycle automation projects with strong documentation (Project Charters, Management Plans).
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Production, and IT to ensure holistic solutions.
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving
- Analyze and troubleshoot automation systems, identifying improvement opportunities.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous process optimization.
