What is Expert Databases?
The Expert Databases plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, integrity, and performance of databases that support core telecom services and business operations. Working across a diverse technology stack—including Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, IBM DB2, MongoDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL—the IT-DBA is responsible for administering, managing, tuning, and securing data platforms in line with enterprise SLAs and compliance requirements.
The role involves close coordination with network, application, and infrastructure teams to support high-volume, real-time data environments. The Expert Databases leads optimization efforts, supports disaster recovery and capacity planning, and provides technical guidance for data-related components in business and IT projects, contributing to operational efficiency and digital transformation across the organization along with 24/7 database support.
The role reports directly to the Manager DB Services.
What does Expert Databases do?
End-to-end database related planning, installation, administration, maintenance and Operations, focused on new and existing technologies deployment, keeping databases availability 24*7 round the year, fault free and up to date.
Key responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain database systems supporting telecom billing, payment gateways, real-time transaction processing, and data warehousing.
- Ensure 24x7 uptime and low-latency performance for databases handling financial transactions and telecom traffic.
- Perform query tuning, indexing, and partitioning for OLTP and OLAP workloads.
- Lead disaster recovery, HADR, replication, and automated failover strategies across data centers
- Collaborate with security teams for audit trails, data encryption, access control, and log management.
- Conduct proactive monitoring using available tools and perform RCA on incidents.
- Automate daily operations through shell scripting for tasks like log rotation, backup checks, and alerts
- Document runbooks, architecture, standard operating procedures, and training materials for operational continuity.
- Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
- Ownership mindset with willingness to be on-call for production-critical issues

Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Expert Databases?
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
2. Professional certifications such as:
- MongoDB Certified DBA
- MySQL DBA Certification
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- DB2 Advanced DBA Certification
- PostgreSQL Associate/Professional
- Cassandra Administrator Certification
- MSSQL DBA Administrator
5. Four to Six years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field. Telco Experience will be preferred.
6. At least 3 years hands-on experience with database technologies (MySQL, MongoDB and IBM DB2.
7. At least 2 years hands-on experience with database technologies MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle and Cassandra.
8. Must have proven experience managing high-volume, large-scale databases efficiently.
9. Must possess hands-on experience working across Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and Windows Server operating environments.
10. Hands-on experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
11. Must possess hands-on Implementing access controls, encryption, and auditing
