What is Expert Transport Performance Analytics?

A Transport Performance Analytics Expert is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations, performance, and optimization of the telecom transport backbone — including fiber optics, SDH, DWDM, and IP/MPLS networks.

The role reports directly to the Manager Network Performance Analytics.

What does Expert Transport Performance Analytics do?

They monitor, analyze, and improve the network’s performance by using advanced tools and technical know-how. They troubleshoot faults, coordinate with vendors, ensure timely root-cause analysis, maintain accurate network documentation, and validate technical solutions for upgrades and expansions.

Key responsibilities & Deliverables

• Monitor and analyze end-to-end transport network performance across MW, Optical (OTN, DWDM, WSON) & IP domains, ensuring optimal service quality and network KPIs.
• Perform in-depth trend analysis, cross-domain correlation (RAN/TXN/IP/Core/FIX), and proactively identify potential risks, degradations, or bottlenecks.
• Develop, maintain, and automate performance dashboards and analytical reports using tools like Tableau, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights.
• Conduct data reconciliation, enrichment, and validation to support accurate reporting and decision-making for capacity planning, optimization, and forecasting.
• Investigate repetitive outages and chronic faults through root cause analysis (RCA); generate recommendations and track action items with relevant teams.
• Escalate performance issues promptly, ensuring effective collaboration with internal teams and vendors to meet SLA commitments.
• Provide performance input for transport network planning and design, validating proposed expansions or changes based on analytics-driven insights.
• Develop and maintain transport performance models and baselines to measure improvements or impacts of network changes.
• Highlight network optimization needs and provide data-backed recommendations to drive improvements in reliability, availability, and efficiency
• Support the creation and improvement of SOPs, MOPs, and best practices related to network performance monitoring and reporting.
• Ensure up-to-date network documentation, performance reports, and inventory records relevant to the transport domain.
• Track vendor deliverables related to performance improvements and ensured resolution of all outstanding performance issues.
•  Coordinate and deliver insightful performance presentations for management and other stakeholders, making complex data understandable.

Experience and Educational requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with BSc. Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering or in any other relevant field
• Soft skills and technical skills required
• Presentations and incident reporting
• Project management
• Good skill of communications

Essential skills must have: 

• Solid expertise in IP-MPLS (Service Provider) and Enterprise networks, with hands-on experience on Cisco, Juniper, and Huawei platforms, applied in performance monitoring and analysis contexts.
• Strong knowledge of Cloud networks, IPv6, and network automation tools to support advanced transport performance analytics and reporting.
• Excellent command of routing and transport protocols, including BGP (iBGP & eBGP), MPLS, Segment Routing (SR), RSVP, LDP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, and static routing — with the ability to correlate protocol performance to transport KPIs.
• Solid understanding and practical exposure to IXP (Internet Exchange Point) network infrastructure, supporting end-to-end transport traffic performance and peering analysis.
• In-depth understanding of MPLS protocols, inter-working of diverse network topologies, and integration with the latest IP network technologies, with emphasis on monitoring and optimizing performance.
• Proven network security knowledge and hands-on experience with firewalls and security policies, ensuring secure transport paths and compliance in performance monitoring.
• Excellent command over BGP (iBGP & eBGP), MPLS, SR, RSVP, LDP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP and static routing protocols.
• Solid base in fiber optics and optical physics, enabling detailed analysis of optical transport performance.
• Good understanding of SDH, with thorough know-how of transport network topologies and how they impact performance across multi-domain layers.
• In-depth knowledge of DWDM and photonics, used to analyze high-capacity optical transmission performance.
• Excellent command of legacy telecom protocols (PDH, E1, E3, etc.) for backward compatibility and performance integration.
• Hands-on experience and deep understanding of ADMs, Multiplexers, Multi-service/Multi-protocol Switches (Huawei, Ericsson, Cisco), and their performance metrics.
• Hands-on experience and deep understanding of ADMs, Multiplexers, Multi-service/Multi-protocol Switches (Huawei, Ericsson, Cisco), and their performance metrics.
• Working knowledge of technologies like ASON, WSON, SDH, DWDM, OTN, MW protection schemes, and key performance parameters, with the ability to translate this knowledge into actionable performance insights.
