What is Head of Corporate Affairs?
The Head of Corporate Affairs will lead the company’s efforts in managing its corporate image, external communications, media relations, government affairs, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Reporting to the CEO, this role will play a critical role in positioning Jazz as a leader in its industry while ensuring that the company’s messaging aligns with its mission, values, and long-term objectives. The Head of Corporate Affairs will work closely with senior leadership to enhance the company's reputation, engage key stakeholders, and address complex issues in the corporate landscape.
What does Head of Corporate Affairs do?
Corporate Communications & Public Relations:
- Develop and implement comprehensive corporate communications strategies to promote the company’s mission, values, and achievements to external audiences.
- Lead media relations efforts, including building and maintaining relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and industry influencers.
- Oversee the preparation of press releases, speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for the executive team and senior leadership.
- Act as the company’s primary spokesperson, handling media inquiries and representing the organization at public events, conferences, and forums.
Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management: - Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, investors, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Advise senior leadership on stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and corporate values.
- Develop strategies for enhancing employee engagement and internal communications, ensuring transparency and fostering a strong organizational culture.
Government Affairs & Public Policy: - Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the company’s business operations, and lead efforts to advocate for favorable public policies.
- Build relationships with policymakers, government officials, and regulatory bodies to represent the company’s interests.
- Develop and manage the company’s public policy strategy, ensuring that the company is well-positioned to navigate political, economic, and social changes.
- Advocate for the company in discussions with industry groups, trade associations, and government agencies.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainability: - Lead the company’s CSR and sustainability initiatives, ensuring that they align with the company’s strategic objectives and values.
- Work with internal teams to identify, design, and implement programs that have a positive social and environmental impact.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders involved in CSR efforts, including non-profit organizations, community groups, and environmental organizations.
- Report on CSR and sustainability progress, providing transparency and accountability to stakeholders.
Crisis Communication & Reputation Management: - Lead the development and implementation of crisis communication strategies to address reputational risks and minimize damage during times of crisis or controversy.
- Act as the point of contact for managing high-stakes communications, including legal, financial, or public relations challenges.
- Work closely with legal, HR, and executive teams to ensure that the company’s responses to crises are consistent and strategically aligned.
Brand Management & Thought Leadership: - Shape the company’s brand identity and ensure consistency across all external communications and public-facing materials.
- Position the company’s executives and leadership team as thought leaders in the industry, driving participation in speaking engagements, publications, and interviews.
- Oversee the creation and execution of strategic content that highlights the company’s thought leadership, innovation, and industry expertise.
Team Leadership & Development: - Lead and manage the corporate affairs team, providing mentorship, development opportunities, and performance feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and communication objectives.
- Develop and manage the corporate affairs department’s budget, ensuring effective use of resources and meeting organizational priorities.
Requirements
What are we looking for and what does it require to be Head of Corporate Affairs?
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications in communications or public relations is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, media relations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership or strategic role.
- Proven experience managing complex stakeholder relationships, media engagement, and public policy initiatives.
- Experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability initiatives is preferred.
- Strong understanding of public policy, government affairs, and regulatory environments.
- Proficiency in communications tools, media tracking, and social media platforms.
