Key Responsibilities:
Legal Strategy & Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of 5–6 legal professionals.
- Define legal strategies aligned with business objectives in fintech and SaaS environments.
- Advise executive leadership on legal risks, regulatory compliance, and commercial implications.
Fintech & Regulatory Compliance:
- Oversee compliance with financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor changes in fintech regulatory environments (e.g., AML, KYC, data privacy, cross-border payments).
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and compliance consultants.
Contract & Commercial Legal:
- Oversee end-to-end contract management – drafting, negotiation, risk analysis, and enforcement.
- Develop templates, playbooks, and workflows for SaaS, licensing, vendor, and partnership agreements.
- Ensure enforceability and commercial clarity in global client and vendor agreements.
International Transactions & M&A:
- Structure and execute international deals, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Lead legal due diligence, risk mitigation, and regulatory filings in M&A activities.
- Coordinate with external counsel during cross-border expansions and acquisitions.
Intellectual Property:
- Protect and manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio – trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets.
- Work with product and tech teams to ensure legal protection of proprietary technology.
- Handle IP infringement matters globally, including enforcement and defense.
Requirements:
- LLB or equivalent law degree; LLM or relevant international qualifications preferred.
- 10+ years of legal experience, with at least 4–5 years in a fintech, SaaS, or technology-driven company.
- Strong knowledge of global legal systems, commercial law, financial regulations, and international contracting.
- Proven track record in handling cross-border transactions, IP, and M&A deals.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in building legal frameworks and scalable processes in high-growth environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior in-house counsel experience in a fintech or product-based tech company.
- Familiarity with global data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience with regulatory licensing, sandbox participation, or financial product approval.
