The Manager, Fabric Sourcing will be responsible for the trend, innovation, research, and development of the company’s fabric and trim. This position will partner with cross-functional teams in order to land raw materials within the vendor matrix and cost parameters and will develop new protos to support trend.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
- Research and develop fabrics and trim that are consistent with current trends, customer insights, and the company’s testing quality parameters
- Manage fabric projects and fabric pricing to ensure they remain within budget, while ensuring quality
- Research to stay abreast of fabric and trim trends, as well as technological advances utilized in the market
- Collaborate with Sourcing and mills to develop new fabrics and technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Merchandising, Product Development, Production, and Sourcing and vendors to present and resolve issues in fabric development
- Develop and maintain fabric library
- Manage and mentor direct reports with in the fabric and design departments
- Manage prototype development
- Present fabric on a seasonal basis
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in design or related field
- 5+ years of experience in the textile industry
Skills and Behaviors:
- Must be innovative and have strong design sensibility
- Demonstrated fabric technical development and management experience
- Strong knowledge of vendors and mills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Strong presentation skills
