Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to dispense drugs in the inpatient, outpatient and specialized pharmacies including:
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medications, verifying prescriptions for dosage accuracy, indications, interactions, contraindications, allergies, and duplication.
- Maintain and monitor pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring proper storage, security, and timely replenishment; recommend par level adjustments to prevent shortages.
- Communicate with prescribers for prescription clarifications and document interventions.
- Ensure accurate and timely medication dispensing and delivery, following the “right patient, right drug, right dose” principle.
- Oversee controlled drug distribution and maintain strict documentation.
- Conduct monthly floor stock inspections and manage near-expiry replacements.
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment; ensure cleanliness and safety of the work area.
- Provide drug information, poison management guidance, and patient counselling (including OPD).
- Process e-pharmacy and outpatient prescriptions, including cash handling.
- Perform extemporaneous compounding, bulk preparations, cytotoxic drug and TPN preparation (if assigned), with accurate record keeping.
- Train and mentor pharmacy interns, trainees, and junior staff.
- Support other pharmacy-related tasks and projects as required
Requirements:
You should have:
- Doctor of Pharmacy from a recognized University.
- Professional registration with Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.
- One year traineeship in a medium / large hospital OR preferably 1 - 2 year's experience as a pharmacist.
- Work weekends, holidays, and rotational shifts when required.
- Undertake additional related assignments as needed.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy functioning.
- Sound knowledge of Physiology, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical.
- Familiarity with locally available drugs, pharmaceutical and their indications.
- Ability to communicate with medical professionals.
