Job Role / Responsibilities:
Support the development of AKUH EHS policies and programs. EHS supervisor is responsible for managing a AKU’s environmental, health and safety policies & procedures and its implementation of construction office. Following are some of the core duties a safety officer responsibilities on regular basis:
- conduct/ evaluate risk assessment and maintain their records also conduct regular site visits to enforce preventative measures mentioned in specified risk assessments
- advise and instruct suggest controls on various safety-related topics (air quality, noise levels, emergency services, use of machinery etc.)
- initiate and organize OHS training of employees, contractors, vendors, contractor staff etc
- inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment)
- stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
- record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- prepare reports on unsafe occurrences, non-compliances and provide statistical information to upper management
- bility to provide trainings regarding Environmental Health & Safety
- ability to perform Level 1 environmental round, develop, and submit reports
- responsible for managing and eradicating EHS operational risks and hazards to ensure an accident/ hazard free/ecofriendly work environment
- preparation of Compliance evaluation check sheets for all projects
- any other task given by supervisor related to EHS.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree / B-Tech (4-years) is preferred
- EHS Certifications i.e. IOSH,NEBOSH are Mandatory
- First Aid, firefighting, advanced lifting & rigging system, use of scaffolding and any other construction safety will be a plus.
- 3-4 years of experience as EHS Officer/Supervisor on any Construction project preferably in health care sector
- good hand practice on preparing evaluating Risk Assessments
- proficient in all Microsoft Applications
- excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices and their controls related to construction or renovation
- good time-management & training skills
- capable of working in a team
- good interpersonal skills and a willingness to work with people at all levels of an organization.
