The FHS Library supports the teaching, learning and research programmes of the University by selecting, acquiring and organizing relevant and up-to-date information resources and ensuring efficient and effective dissemination to all library users. It provides access to comprehensive and multi-disciplinary information resources in print and digital formats. This access is provided through innovative services and state-of-the-art systems. The library is part of WHO EMRO libraries network and is actively involved in various projects.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Library Assistant, Faculty of Health Sciences.
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
counter duties - Periodical and Book Sections of the library
providing first-hand guidance/assistance to library users in searching and retrieval of library resources
directing complex queries, book fine issues, in-depth research, and reference queries to appropriate senior library staff
shelving of books and journals
scanning work as a part of digitization project or otherwise
maintaining library collections (sorting, overseeing, shelving, shelf reading, etc.)
generating daily fine reports and submitting to the relevant department
any other task assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
You should have:
bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science or related field
1-2 years of experience preferably in a health science library
good knowledge of health sciences literature/resources and literature searching
excellent computer skills. Specific job assignments may require knowledge and/or experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database software applications
knowledge of NLM, LC, AACR2, RDA, Dublin Core and other library standards and schemas
ability to work collaboratively as a team member and serve the public in an effective and courteous way
commitment to service, continuous improvement, and innovation with a strong work ethic
aptitude to learn new things, willingness to work hard and good interpersonal skills
strong customer service attitude
be willing to work in rotations (shifts and weekends)
