Overview
The Logistics Lead is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end logistics operations, including inbound and outbound transportation, distribution, and 3PL/vendor management. The role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods while driving continuous improvement in logistics processes.
Responsibilities
Transport & Distribution Management:
- Plan and manage daily transportation operations for raw materials and finished goods.
- Optimize routes, fleet utilization, and delivery schedules to reduce costs and improve service levels.
- Oversee the loading, dispatching, and delivery of products in accordance with customer requirements.
Warehouse Coordination:
- Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper storage and handling of materials.
Vendor & 3PL Management:
- Manage logistics service providers (transporters, freight forwarders, couriers).
- Negotiate contracts and performance SLAs, ensuring adherence to service and cost expectations.
- Monitor performance and initiate corrective actions as needed.
HSSE & Compliance:
- Ensure logistics operations adhere to company safety standards, local regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, and resolution for logistics-related issues.
Cost Control & Reporting:
- Monitor logistics budget and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Maintain KPIs and dashboards to track performance (e.g., on-time delivery, freight cost per unit, damage rate).
- Prepare reports and present insights to leadership.
Process Improvement & Projects:
- Lead or support logistics transformation/digitalization projects.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement lean logistics practices for efficiency gains.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics or transportation.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and transport management systems (TMS).
- Experience working with 3PLs and managing freight contracts.
