Introduction:
The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of, Post Doc Fellow Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. This is a platform investigate host immunity against SARS-CoV-2 infections.
This is a contractual position.
Responsibilities:
- Candidate with doctoral qualification and expertise in molecular and cellular biology with equivalent bench skills
- Candidate must have expertise in statistical analysis tools as well as experience with genomic data analysis
- Candidate needs to be an independent thinker and be responsible for literature review of study subject and to be able to appropriately draft and write up summary data and reports
- Candidate must work with team members and work on the bench for virology and immunology assays in the BSL2 laboratory
- Candidate must work with PI to collate data for manuscripts
- Candidate will be required to work towards the preparation of new research grants as per the given assignment
- Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the reporting person
Requirements:
- Must possess a PhD degree in Biosciences / Microbiology/Molecular biology with relevant research experience
- Previous experience of research studies and project management related to infectious diseases will be preferred
- Research bench research experience essential
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking abilities, Organizational and management skills
- Demonstrate teamwork, maturity, ability to work independently and versatility to work in a variety of related roles such as lab/bio-specimen processing, data management
- Excellent organizational capabilities and experience with research literature review and writing
- Proficiency in the use of computers and related Office software
