Introduction
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

This is a grant funded contractual position
Responsibilities
you will be responsible to:
- work under the supervision of the Research Associate and Research Coordinator, perform various assays like ELISA, DNA extractions, Gel Electrophoresis, Polymerase chain reaction, and other molecular and immunological assays on daily basis according to Laboratory protocols/manual to assist in the timely preparation of the final reports for projects
- ensure that the samples are received and processed as per the protocol/guidelines stated in the research procedure manual for individual projects, to provide quality service on a daily basis or as and when required
- follow and assist seniors in implementation of safety standards according to Research Laboratory Safety Manual on a daily basis for own safety and the safety of the others
- assist in maintaining inventory logs, manual sample receiving and data maintenance record
- any other duty or responsibility assigned by the Lab-Manger/In-charge technologist
- confirm and discuss unusual findings found in the specimen currently working on with the seniors to avoid any misleading results going out to the data management facility for projects as and when required
- maintain proper records of results as instructed and compile project results for presentation at departmental meetings
Requirement
You should have:
- B.S./MSc. in Biological Sciences/Microbiology/biotechnology
- 1 year experience in laboratory or hospital/ research facility
- good Knowledge of Laboratory/research testing procedures
- ability to immediately follow written and oral instructions
- good team player skills
- ability to act vigilantly while performing lab tasks
