The Head of Business Development and Partnership — Pakistan will serve as the business owner for the country's operations. This role is responsible for setting up, launching, and scaling the company’s fintech business in Pakistan in full compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the banking and financial ecosystem, experience dealing with NBFCs, a strong regulatory understanding, and an existing network of key stakeholders in banking, government, and fintech space.
This position will also require you to travel outside of the country, the candidate should have the mindset to travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Setup & Growth
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the business in Pakistan, including regulatory approvals, office setup, and team hiring.
- Define and implement the country strategy, operational plan, and go-to-market initiatives.
- Establish and manage all functions, including operations, compliance, finance, partnerships, and sales.
- Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Lead all interactions with regulatory bodies (e.g., SECP, SBP, PTA, FBR).
- Obtain necessary licenses (e.g., NBFC, EMI, Payment System Operator/Provider, etc.).
- Ensure continuous compliance with Pakistan’s financial regulations and policies.
- Stakeholder & Government Relations
- Build strong relationships with local banks, government offices, financial institutions, and strategic partners.
- Represent the company in front of industry bodies and regulatory panels.
- Partnerships & Alliances
- Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships with banks, telcos, fintech platforms, and other ecosystem players.
- Maintain and leverage a strong network in the financial and regulatory ecosystem.
- Team Leadership
- Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing local team.
- Promote a results-driven and entrepreneurial culture aligned with company values.
- Problem Solving & Operations
- Be the go-to person for resolving business, operational, or regulatory challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement across customer experience, product rollouts, and operational processes.
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, fintech, or banking.
- Prior leadership experience in launching or scaling fintech operations in Pakistan.
- Knowledge about BNPL business is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of Pakistan’s financial regulatory environment (SECP, SBP, NBFCs).
- Proven experience working with or managing NBFCs, digital banking, EMI or payment platforms.
- Existing network across banks, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build from scratch and drive execution.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
