The Junior Accounts Officer will be an integral part of the finance team, responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks to ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions. This role is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual looking to gain valuable experience in a professional accounting environment. The Junior Accounts Officer will support the senior accounting staff in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Entry & Record Keeping:
- Accurately record daily financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, into the accounting system (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Tally, etc.).
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
- Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and other financial documents.
- Reconciliation:
- Assist in reconciling bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies and work towards their resolution.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Support:
- Assist with the processing of accounts payable (vendor invoices, payments).
- Support accounts receivable activities, including tracking payments and assisting with follow-ups on outstanding invoices.
- Reporting & Analysis Support:
- Assist in the preparation of various financial reports, such as trial balances, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
- Compile financial data for analysis and provide support for budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of documents and data for internal and external audits.
- Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Petty Cash Management:
- Manage and reconcile petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation.
- General Administrative Support:
- Perform general administrative duties related to the finance department as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Fresh graduates with strong academic records and internships are encouraged to apply.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas) is essential.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Tally) is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
