Supervisor, Female Hostel

Introduction:
Female Hostel Supervisor will perform duties in rotation in on-campus hostel as per duty rota. She may be required to perform extended hours duty if her reliever is unable to report on duty due to any reason. During duty hours she will ensure discipline and upkeep in the hostel by maintaining a very close liaison and coordination with the housekeeping, maintenance, security, horticulture and other concerned departments. She also has to ensure that the overall ambience of the hostel premises remains worth living.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for:
- assisting Manager University Residences in looking after On-campus Hostel and supervising overall activities of the hostel while performing duties in rotation;
- maintaining a very close liaison and coordination with the housekeeping, maintenance, security, horticulture and other concerned departments to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, health, maintenance, safety & security and overall ambience of the hostel premises worth living;
- taking care of students residing in the male hostel and resolve their day to day issues;
- ensuring that the complaints lodged by the students have been followed with the relevant departments;
- maintaining the hostel environment academically conducive, socially healthy and disciplined;
- ensuring that overall hostel premises are kept in a neat and clean state;
- ensuring that no unauthorized person enters within the hostel premises, students do not leave hostel premises unauthorizedly and uninformed, and in and out timings are recorded in the book;
- ensuring that hostel facilities are not misused/ damaged;
- keeping record of daily activities/events and any incident in the hostel;
- keeping record of all complaints made by students and follow up with the concerned departments for corrective measures;
- maintaining an up to date record of hostel occupancy;
- preparing hostels for accommodating new students before the start of academic calendar;
- conducting surprise checks of students rooms for any illegal and unauthorized activity taking place in the room or employing unauthorized electrical appliances in the rooms;
- accompany students if an outdoor activity is officially organised for the students.
Qualifications:
You should have:
- at least Intermediate/graduate will be preferred;
- 3-5 years’ working experience in an administrative position, having supervisory role in the hospitality industry or hostels. An academic environment experience will be considered an advantage;
- understanding of and ability to communicate with young people with diverse backgrounds;
- high level of tolerance and a calm disposition to be able to deal with difficult and challenging people;
- good listening skills and ability to establish positive rapport with students;
- good administrative and organizational skills and ability to resolve administrative problems;
- handling workload and meeting timelines under pressure;
- good public dealing ability;
- ability to use computer and common use software like MS Office, Internet etc;
- ability to handle shift work and perform extra duties as and when required.
