Sustainability Data Officer – Net Zero Carbon Management Program Location: Islamabad/Rawalpindi
The Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is pioneering the science of benchmarking and reducing carbon emissions across its operations in 8 countries. All operations aim to get to Net Zero by, if not before, 2030. This is ambitious, but necessary to mitigate the climate crisis. As a world leader, the AKHS has, through a collaboration with the World Health Organization, shared its tools and approaches with over 70 governments to widen impact. The AKHS has four years' worth of carbon emissions data and aims to track and report progress with its continued efforts across its eight country operations.
AKHS is looking for a skilled and creative Sustainability Data Officer to join its global Climate and Environment team. The main role is to collect, check, and analyse carbon emission data from eight AKHS country offices. The officer will also help with data analysis, research, and sharing the results within AKHS and with other partners.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting quarterly carbon emissions and financial data reporting and data quality checks, working closely with eight AKHS country offices.
Supporting data analysis on carbon emissions hot spots and actions.
Maintaining user-friendly spreadsheets and data reports for country offices.
Developing dashboards and analytical tools.
Documenting methodologies/processes for the task.
Supporting efforts to automate data collection and calculations.
Annually updating carbon conversion factors.
Annually researching data to support supply chain evaluations.

The requirements
Qualification & Experience
Essential: BSc degree (or equivalent level of professional experience) in science, Maths, or another subject requiring regular handling of data.
Desirable: Other qualifications in programming, AI, finance, Monitoring and Evaluation.
At least 3 years of working with implementing and maintaining data systems as part of research protocols or to evaluate programs.
A demonstrable interest in continual learning and staying abreast of latest developments.
A track record in publishing and communicating results and progress.
Using dataset to identify, analyse, and forecast patterns and trends.
Experience of developing dashboards/automated data entry and diagnostic tools.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability and Traits Required
Ability to work with non-technical staff and support routine data collection and quality checks.
Track record of working as part of inter-disciplinary team.
Attention to detail and ability to forensically trouble shoot problems, debugging and error checking.
Adept at ensuring that spreadsheets are not just functional but user-friendly for others.
Ability to clearly explain processes and workings at an appropriate depth to a non-technical audience.
Proven working competency in English.
A high level of proficiency in Microsoft packages, especially MS Excel.
Highly organised and able to deliver results according to time-bound deadlines.
