Job Description
Laboratory Safety
- Conduct regular inspections of chemical labs and emergency equipment (eyewash, showers, spill kits)
- Ensure proper PPE use and chemical spill preparedness
- Lead safety inductions for lab staff and interns
Industrial Hygiene
- Perform sampling and monitoring of air quality, noise levels, ergonomics, and lighting
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain industrial hygiene equipment
- Assist in data collection and analysis for exposure risks
Fire & Emergency Preparedness
- Inspect and maintain fire pump systems (diesel, electric, jockey) and firefighting equipment (extinguishers, sprinklers, alarms)
- Develop Emergency Response Plans (ERP) and lead fire drills
- Serve as Emergency Response Team (ERT) lead/member
HSE Oversight
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations (RCA)
- Support Permit to Work (PTW) systems and develop Safe Work Procedures (SWP)
- Deliver toolbox talks and safety training sessions
Transport & Journey Safety
- Ensure safety compliance for company/hired vehicles (seat belts, brakes, insurance, etc.)
- Monitor journey logs and enforce safe driving practices
- Train drivers on defensive driving and emergency handling
Ventilation & Chemical Handling
- Inspect fume hoods, local exhaust systems, and plan upgrades based on process risks
- Schedule and review airflow testing (face velocity tests) as per OSHA/ASHRAE standards
- Ensure safe disposal of chemical waste and contaminated items
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain HSE records, inspection logs, audit reports, and training documentation
- Communicate hazards and issues to management and client safety teams
- Report field observations and near-miss incidents promptly
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum (Master’s preferred)
- NEBOSH IGC Certification is mandatory
- Preferred Certifications: IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA 30-Hour, Civil Defense Fire Safety Course, RCA, BBS, RBSS
- Industrial hygiene-specific training (e.g., air/noise sampling, ergonomics monitoring
Experience & Skills:
- Assistant Manager: 5+ years of HSE experience
- Deputy Manager: 9+ years of HSE experience with team or departmental leadership
- Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical Labs, or TIC (Testing, Inspection & Certification) is preferred
Technical Expertise & Other:
- Proficient in conducting JSAs, HIRAs, PTWs, audits, and chemical safety inspections
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ASHRAE, and local regulatory laws
- Familiar with gas detectors, noise meters, fume hood testing, and related HSE equipment
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

- Must have a valid local driving license
- Clean-shaven for PPE compliance
