Qualification
- Valid driver's license with required endorsements for operating heavy-duty equipment.
- Relevant certifications or licenses for specific types of equipment (preferred).
Experience
- Previous experience operating tractors or heavy equipment in a mining or construction environment is highly desirable.
- Experience with basic mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of heavy equipment.
Requirements

- Experience operating heavy trucks or equipment in mining or construction environments.
- Strong commitment to safety and awareness of site hazards.
- Physically fit to work in demanding outdoor conditions.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for inspections and minor maintenance.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination (Dover test) and spatial awareness.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to changing work conditions.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty trucks and trailers to transport goods over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Load and unload cargo onto trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment, ensuring proper securing and balancing of the load to prevent shifting during transit.
- Plan efficient routes to reach destinations on time while minimizing fuel consumption and maximizing productivity.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to ensure they are in safe operating condition, reporting any defects or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and cargo deliveries, completing paperwork such as delivery logs, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Interact professionally with customers and clients when picking up or delivering cargo, ensuring a positive experience and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), securing of cargo, and safe driving practices.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and other drivers to coordinate schedules, report delays or problems, and ensure smooth operations.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks on trucks and trailers, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting tires, and cleaning vehicles, to keep them in good working condition.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations such as accidents, breakdowns, or adverse weather conditions, following established protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment operations, including hours worked, tasks performed, fuel usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents or accidents.
