Responsibilities:
As an Instructor in Radiology, you will deliver patient-centered, ethical, and evidence-based care and teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students per curriculum standards. You will also be responsible for engaging in clinical and multidisciplinary research and actively contribute to quality improvement within the department and institution. As an Instructor, it will be your responsibility:
- to demonstrate punctuality and comply with the departmental norms;
- to conduct radiology clinical sessions on campus and/or off campus;
- to teach students, residents and Radiographers;
- in professional service, managing both common problems with such proficiency as to be accepted by the peers for consultation, for unfamiliar problems should be able to consult;
- to support the residency program and participate in the teaching of residents;
- to participate in the department’s administrative committee as assigned by the department chair;
- to conduct research on topics of interest in radiology and publish at least one paper each year;
- to coordinate different training courses;
- to strive to develop competence for defining a research project, securing a competitive grant for it, undertaking research, synthesizing research findings, and publishing and disseminating the conclusions to a wider audience;
- the level of competence at this rank should enable you to undertake clinical responsibilities at the general areas, ultrasound in radiology and to develop expertise in the same or in any other areas of radiology. Should be able to report routine cross-sectional imaging;
- to conduct reporting sessions, radiological services and procedures as defined in the monthly rota;
- to participate in the monthly call rota;
- to work in the offsite radiology campuses as assigned;
- to periodically cover evenings/Saturdays/Sundays by physical presence as defined in the monthly rota;
- to teach undergraduates as assigned by the respective coordinators;
- to perform a variety of radiological clinical reporting sessions and procedures as defined in the monthly duty roster or as advised time to time form the chair or his/her designee;
- to interpret diagnostic images, review requests and determine the applicability of the requested procedures;
- to participate in the institutional CME and public awareness programs;
- to keep abreast with the latest development in education, service, technological and other advances;
- to give cover to the colleagues during holidays, sickness and other approved absences;
- to participate in regular interdisciplinary meeting with other specialities;
- to participate in departmental, university and hospital committees as per requirement, as assigned by the chair and his/her designee;
- to report to the chair on all the medical and professional matters pertaining to one’s area of speciality and clinical work;
- to provide exemplary professional and academic leadership to the fellows and residents;
- to ensues that a high standard of medical care and service delivery is provided and maintained within the department through evidence based medical practice;
- Any other responsibility / assignments, which may not be mentioned above, may be given depending on the departmental /institutional needs by the chair or his/her assignee;
- You might require coming on Saturday, Sundays public holidays or beyond the usual duty hours in special circumstances and beyond your usual duty rota;
- You may be assigned responsibility/duty in the main campus or in any of the offsite campus;
- If required, you may also be asked for transfer and perform assignments outside the country in other AKU campuses or affiliated facilities.
Qualifications:
The incumbent should have:
- MBBS, FCPS I
- Successful completion of structured Radiology Residency program
- 1 year house job.
- Complete FCPS recognized residency training as specified by CPSP
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent teaching and training skills
- Excellent radiological skills
- Ability to provide patient care in radiology settings
- Ability to satisfy patients in Radiology practice
- Ability to deliver CME lectures to community physicians
- Ability to empathize with patients
- Ability to work in teams
- Excellent Computer literacy
