Overview
- To manage and control the Site Engineering function inclusive of Process, Packaging Lines’ Maintenance, Utilities, Warehouses, Cold Stores and facilities to maximize plant reliability, availability and performance in the most cost-effective way without compromising on safety, quality, service and the environment.
- Responsible for managing all maintenance and other engineering activities for Agro, Inbound Supply Chain and Outbound Supply Chain
- To lead the site Resource Conservation and Sustainability agenda in order to deliver the sites water and energy consumption targets.
- To support the Projects function ensuring timely delivery of Capex projects and control of all Pepsico assets.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective management and control of the maintenance management systems and procedures to provide maximum availability, reliability and performance of equipment and plant utilities.
- Support all capital investment projects, covering projects of productivity, operating necessity, new equipment installation and building extensions.
- Provide engineering support to the Agro function in maintenance of onsite and offsite cold store equipment, utilities etc. to ensure smooth functioning of the refrigeration systems and subsequently quality of stored potatoes
- Provide engineering support to the Supply Chain Inbound and Outbound functions ensuring smooth functioning of forklifts, stackers and other equipment.
- Ensure delivery of all Resource Conservation and Sustainability plans resulting in aggressive year-on-year improvement in energy and water consumption
- Work proactively with plant production and administration team to reduce waste and scrap generation on site and to effectively utilize the waste though a “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” program with the target of achieving “Zero waste to landfill”
- Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of capital investment projects.
- Ensure compliance to Occupational Health and Safety procedures and statutory regulations.
- Ensure equipment complies with PI Engineering standards and AIB standards.
- Ensure that an optimized maintenance work plan with defined documented processes are fully utilized.
- Manage the selection and recruitment process to ensure that competent and highly skilled artisans are obtained.
- Manage the development process of individuals to optimize their potential to ensure that performance objectives are met.
- To control and monitor expenditure against annual budget levels for areas of responsibility.
- Develop the Engineering vendor local base to support business operations and to save on R&M budget through local sourcing of parts.
- Ensure effective management and supervision of the Engineering Store, complying with PI policies of inventory management.
- Ensure compliance to purchase policies regarding engineering purchases.
- Manage and maintain asset register.
- To assist central Engineering in the execution and commissioning of projects.
- Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts.
- To support and execute Productivity agenda by supporting the execution of projects bringing overall savings to the system.
- Maintain high standards of discipline in the engineering department by applying company policies and procedures
- Manage all utilities (Gas, LPG and electricity etc) as per PI standards and within AOP budgets in existence of external factor of overall utility shortage
- Strategic & AOP planning for Utilities, R&M budgets and Capex/Project requirements including the requirement assessment for Engg headcount.
- Knowledge of up to date technology.
- Perform administrative functions such as delivering project updates and reports, approving expenditures, enforcing standards, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Maintain contract with relevant regulatory agencies and compliance to all local laws pertaining to building and utilities.
- Develop training needs assessment of the staff members & on boarding plan for the new team members, facilitating on job training & multi-skilling to make the best use of their potential.
- Apart from the above, employee is expected to perform other accountabilities, time to time assigned by the manager.
Qualifications
• Engineering degree preferably mechanical or electrical.• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in an FMCG business, engineering management role for at least 4 years with both maintenance and project roles.
