Job Description
Job Summary:
The Business Development Specialist (Architect) is responsible for building strong relationships with architects, consultants, and design firms to secure product specifications in commercial and residential projects. This role plays a vital part in supporting the distribution network by generating demand through early-stage project engagement, ensuring alignment between project stakeholders and distribution partners.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Specification & Project Engagement
- Identify and build relationships with architects, interior designers, and consultants.
- Promote Sika’s full product portfolio (waterproofing, tile adhesives, grouts, sealants, etc.) for inclusion in project specifications and BOQs.
- Conduct CPD (Continuing Professional Development) presentations, lunch-and-learns, and technical seminars.
2. Distribution Support
- Generate project leads and pass relevant information to the local sales/distribution team.
- Align with distribution partners to ensure product availability, pricing consistency, and project servicing.
3. Market Intelligence & Growth
- Track upcoming and ongoing construction projects and influence product selection at design stages.
- Monitor competitor activity in the architect/specifier space and share insights with marketing and distribution teams.
- Identify key market segments for business expansion through the specification route.
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with marketing for architect-focused campaigns and tools (catalogs, samples, presentations).
- Collaborate with the technical and supply teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
5. Key Account Management (Tile & Paint Outlets)
- Identify and develop relationships with large format tile showrooms, premium paint outlets, and architect-driven retailers.
- Ensure these showrooms are equipped with product displays, mockups, sample kits, and trained staff to represent Sika effectively.
- Work with outlet owners and sales teams to influence product recommendations made to walk-in architects and project clients.
- Monitor product movement and coordinate with distribution teams to ensure consistent supply, pricing integrity, and outlet satisfaction.
- Execute joint promotions, launch campaigns, and training sessions in coordination with the marketing team.
Key Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with high-influence accounts (architects, designers, premium retailers).
- Strong relationship-building ability with influencers.
- Project tracking and CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce).
- Technical understanding of building materials and systems.
- Ability to link specifications to distribution business growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior Civil Engineering, or related field
- MBA (Marketing)
- 4–6 years of experience in business development, specification sales, or working with architects/designers
- Familiarity with construction chemicals, finishing materials, or building systems preferred
